'Le Petit Paysage'

Curated by Peter Meaghan and David Hancock the exhibition brings together 23 artists who use the landscape as a theme in their work. The aim is to show the diversity of language used by contemporary artists from the painterly to the conceptual.

In representing the landscape the artists have chosen to extract the beauty in both the natural and urban environment. These works are characterised by the sublime; the dark compulsions of the contemporary psyche form a significant presence in their works. Surrounding themselves in a field of white noise, each artist contrives an overview, escaping into the beauty of the application of their chosen medium.

The exhibition will tour to the Comme Ca Art Gallery in Manchester, opening on 9 December 2004.
