Who is Dave White? A talented pop artist with a unique painting style, described as ‘One of the North’s brightest sparks’ by The Guardian….who can forget his Air Max ‘95 portrait that graced the cover of Creative Review.

He is known world wide for his trainer or ‘sneaker’ images and has made international appearances at live painting events in New York much to the delight of sneaker fans and art collectors. He counts media mogul Damon Dash amongst his celebrity clients.

He has his own brand of clothing simply called ‘Dave White’ as seen in Selfridges, which has sold out world wide within weeks of hitting the stores. So much so, that the garments on already being resold on Ebay. Blue chip companies are knocking at his door. He is currently collaborating on a range with One True Saxon to promote his Biennial collection. His work and collections will also be featured in Le Book 2005.

Returning to the studio to progress his next subject, ‘cars’, was an easy step for Dave White. He simply paints the things that he loves, the objects of desire to most of us. This collection to be unveiled at the Liverpool Art Biennial 2004 features the classic Ferrari’s, 007 Aston Martin, Italian Job Mini and even a Ford GT40, whilst throwing in some retro icons. The 1970’s Batmobile, ‘Smokey and the Bandit’s’ Trans Am, a Hippie VW Love Bug Van and of course Starsky’s Gran Torino all make exhilarating viewing.

In addition to this show, Dave has already set his sites further a field, with his first exhibition in Tokyo planned for October. He will also be exhibiting at the Centre for Visual Arts in Rotterdam in November in association with the Black Soil Film Festival sponsored by MTV.

For 2005 he has been asked to tour Australia with his work on a 3 city touring exhibition. However, the highlight next year promises to be a Dave White arts event in Hawaii, to mark his two year website anniversary at the infamous W Hotel in Honolulu.

So, it seems about time for the UK to sit up and take notice of this local lad from Liverpool, who is setting the world alight. His work can be seen at the Liverpool Biennial September 18th – November 28th at his independent show 44 Jamaica Street, Liverpool, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.
