Better than Zone Alarm?
I'm very happy with Zone Alarm, but it's always a pain when you set it up on someone else's laptop. It needs to be trained to allow each and every program that needs access to the internet, very scary and offputting for a lot of users.
Next time, I'm going to give Comodo Personal Firewall a try.
