Caroline Bergvall (Norway/France)
& Ciaran Maher (Ireland) - poet/performer Caroline Bergvall
has worked with composer Ciaran Maher to re-create an installation
first commissioned by Spacex in 2001. Say:"parsley" takes
the listener through different environments, each playing tricks
on the ear and the eye, addressing the necessities and uncertainties
of speaking and listening. The installation takes its title from
a brutal massacre in 1937 in the Dominican Republic during which
Creole Haitians were murdered if they were not able to pronounce
'parsley' (perejil) in the appropriate Spanish manner, by rolling
the 'R'.
